As home stagers we have to have big imaginations when staging new construction homes. Many times when we arrive for the consultation they are still under construction. It’s up to us to envision and design the home to target the neighborhood demographics, showcase its best architectural features and create mass appeal.

This takes vision and a skill I can’t quite define other than we can “see” the finished product. First I choose all the furniture and rugs from two different furniture rental sources. Early on I personally discovered that in order to create a unique, elegant, transitional look I needed more options. Renting from two different furniture rental companies affords me twice the furniture to choose from, but it also makes my job a little more complicated. However, the end result is worth the extra effort……and my clients think so too!

Next I go to my warehouse and choose all the accessories (art, bedding, lamps, pillows and decor) that will bring the rooms to life. Everything has a purpose and is designed to WOW buyers as soon as they walk through the door, making them want to see more. I want buyers to feel “at home”; not like they are in a “staged” house which is why I use a variety of organic elements like real orchids, pussy willow, glass terrariums with tiny plants and lots of glass containers filled with coffee beans, rice, pasta and bowls of fruit – things you’d find in a real kitchen.

**Because this 7,000 square foot Short Hills, NJ home is so large I’m doing a second post on the large kitchen and eating area. This following photos are before/after shots of the living room, family room, master bedroom and master sitting room…

Staging is all in the details…

Many people don’t realize that staged homes appear larger with furniture than unstaged homes. Staging also creates warmth and emotional connections with buyers, helping them envision themselves living in the home; something that’s harder to accomplish with no furniture or décor.

If you are selling your vacant home, call Elite Staging and Redesign at 201-602-2562 or email us at kris@elitestagingandredesign.com to see how we can transform your empty house into a warm, stylish home with mass appeal for a quicker sale at top dollar.
