As a Morris County NJ Home Stager and Interior Redesigner, I’ve come to realize that many clients who call on me to design their spaces don’t always know their décor style. After all, they haven’t shopped for furniture, window treatments, area rugs, art, ect., in decades, nor have they been scouring furniture stores or looking through interior design magazines because that hasn’t been their NJ decorator, Morris County, NJ interior design Tips, Decorating trends & Styles, Staging tipsfocus…..until now.
The world of interior design is always changing and if you haven’t had exposure to the latest design treads, styles, or even the cost of furnishings how would you know where to start, how to come up with a budget or where to shop?
For example couches cost anywhere from $700.00 (usually not the best quality) to mid-priced at $1000 to $1,500, to custom fabric at $3,000+. Moreover, custom, heavy drapery dates a home, and simple panels, matchstick blinds and roman shades are very popular…and less expensive!

There are many deals to be had and this Morris County NJ Interior Redesigner knows where to find them, what stores to shop at and how to get a designer look without spending designer prices.

Another thing to consider when designing your rooms is your decor style. Over time people’s tastes change or they never really knew their style. I educate my clients by showing them photos of different room styles, furnishings, products (stone, flooring, tile, window treatments) and accessories along with wall colors and architectural features to help them discover the look they want to accomplish.

They are often surprised that once a traditionalist, they now gravitate more towards transitional or contemporary…and sometimes the reverse. With so many styles (traditional, modern, contemporary, glam/shabby chic, Tuscan, Craftsman, Mid-Century Modern, and eclectic), it’s important to do some research before you start your interior design project.

Below are different style rooms to help you decide which look reflects your tastes, lifestyle, functionality and design you want to accomplish with your new space/spaces. I try and encourage my clients to step outside their comfort zone a little, and try something new instead of just going with what they’ve always done.

Moreover, the great news in design is that you can mix it up and add a few contemporary pieces in a traditional room or add a few antiques to a contemporary room and it all works!
